how dull

finally plans for the new england site in brighton have been unveiled, and they couldn't be duller. the new england site was identified in the tall buildings strategy as a good place for tall buildings, it is, and given the citys bounding by the downs and the sea, the only place to build is up. but the recent plans for the marina, the black rock ice rink and the last sets of plans for the king alfred (of which ghery's towering trannies was the winner) as well as the new library building currently being constructed show aesthetic flare and sensitivities to the sites. this is a giant glass stick full of rooms.

could there not be something just a little more fabulous for the new england site?

Drat. That link has moved on. I'd quite like to see the cack they're suggesting. There are so many bad buildings in that area already it would be a crying shame to let them stick up another one.

bugger the argus and thier inability to produce stable URLs. have fixed it now with an archive link

the plans are going to be on show at the town hall (i think), it's really very boring and 42 stories high. so big and boring then, a very bad combination.
