Daniel Ellsberg and Sibel Edmonds on whistleblowing

caught this on the excellent democracy now breakfast show in northen california last week:

"We speak with two whistleblowers from different eras about their experiences in speaking out: Sibel Edmonds, a former FBI translator hired to translate pre-9/11 intelligence, has said the U.S. had considerable evidence that al Qaida was planning to strike the U.S. with airplanes. The Bush administration is now trying to block her from testifying at a major 9/11 lawsuit. And Daniel Ellsberg, perhaps the most famous whistleblower in U.S. history who leaked the Pentagon Papers setting in motion actions that would eventually topple the Nixon presidency and end the Vietnam war."

one of the notable features of democracy now's tv programme is the very odd music, ""Drummers of the Nile" here on Democracy Now!"

My name is Vivienne Rerrie and I served 12-years honorably at The Central Intelligence Agency [CIA]. I served my country in dangerous and sometimes hazardous environments.

While working in South East Asia, I stumbled upon two activities, which I brought to my supervisor’s attention per the Agency’s Standard Operating Procedures. A short time thereafter, I began to experience harassment from my supervisor in a variety of ways and then finally termination. The activities I mentioned to my supervisor were:

a) A double agent operating in South East Asia where I was stationed during July 1992 - July 1995.

b) On 2-occasions, CIA personnel in management positions, distributing drugs in South East Asia and Latin America.

Since my termination, I have spoken to several people concerning my situation, i.e., Agent Lydia Jeoreck at the F.B.I. Field Office in Washington, Mr. Mike Popolano, and Ms. Karen Kraemer of the F.B.I. Miami office. To date, I haven’t received any relief concerning this situation. Presently, I’m unable to find employment and I’ve lost everything familiar prior to my reporting what I observed while employed in South East Asia.

Sincerely yours,

Vivienne Rerrie
